Two Orange County Companies Earn the Top Prizes in AC-NET’s 2011 Clean Tech Business Plan Competition 

 

ANAHEIM, CA – (September 12, 2011) The Anaheim Center for New Energy Technologies (AC-NET) awarded the top three prizes of this year’s Clean Tech Business Plan Competition yesterday at Clean Tech OC’s second annual conference in Irvine, Calif.  AC-NET’s business plan competition, which is now in its third year, seeks to promote and develop emerging clean tech companies with solutions to Southern California’s environmental and industrial challenges.

 

ViridiSTOR earned the $10,000 grand prize in the 2011 AC-NET Clean Tech Business Plan Competition.  ViridiSTOR, from Tustin, Calif. won the top prize for their Green Box™ Solution that replaces paper-based materials at trade shows and conferences with electronic files including video, high-resolution color photos, presentations, or entire product catalogs. 

 

“We are very pleased to be acknowledged by AC-NET with its partners CleanTech OC and OCTANe. Our solution is one of the only sustainable solutions that improves the delivery of information to conference and trade show participants, while reducing the cost of participation,” said Terry Mullin, CEO of ViridiSTOR, LLC.

 

Earning second place honors and the $5,000 prize in the 2011 AC-NET competition was Atlantis Atlantis Technologies from Monarch Beach, Calif.  Atlantis Technologies designs, builds, and installs water purification systems using Radial Deionization technology (RDITM) to efficiently and effectively remove dissolved salt from oil and gas wastewater and other high salinity industrial waste water, to produce reusable water and concentrated waste.

Michael Curran, CEO of Atlantis Technologies.

 

Noting that the top prize winners in the 2011 AC-NET competition came from the Orange County area, Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait said, “It is clear that AC-NET, along with our partners OCTANe and CleanTech, OC has propelled the City of Anaheim as the leader in the region in establishing and growing the local clean tech economy.”

 

AC-NET evaluated this year’s competitive field using OCTANe’s LaunchPad program, which provides detailed and actionable feedback on business plans and investment presentations.  OCTANe helps connects people and ideas with capital and resources to fuel technology growth in Orange County.

 

Also competing in the final round of the competition were AC Research Labs , M2 Renewables, MelROK, and WaterHealth International
